ULTRAKILL puts constant pressure on movement. Demons, machines, and other enemies can attack from multiple directions, making standing still a dangerous choice.
Use W, A, S, D to move around the arena, jump with Space, and use the F key for close-range punches. Staying mobile gives you more opportunities to avoid attacks while creating better angles for your next strike.
The movement system becomes more valuable as enemy groups grow larger. Jumping, repositioning, and changing direction quickly can keep you alive when the arena becomes crowded.
Close-range attacks and aggressive combat can help you recover health from enemies, giving you a reason to keep pressure on the battlefield instead of constantly retreating. Parrying attacks can also restore health while turning an enemy's aggression against them.
The weapon system rewards experimentation. Weapons feature primary and alternate attacks, while robotic arms provide additional combat options and interactions. The campaign takes machines into the depths of Hell after humanity's extinction leaves blood supplies running low. The levels draw inspiration from Dante's layers of Hell, creating a sequence of hostile environments filled with demons, machines, secrets, and intense combat.
There is more to ULTRAKILL than the main route. Secret levels introduce unusual challenges inspired by other game genres, while optional objectives encourage players to revisit completed stages.
Perfecting an act can also unlock its Prime Sanctum, where a secret boss encounter awaits. These challenges give experienced players additional reasons to master movement, weapons, and combat combinations.
The Cyber Grind provides an endless survival challenge built around increasingly intense enemy encounters. The mode focuses on surviving as long as possible while competing for high scores.
