Hop Earth is a browser-based 3D driving game that lets you explore roads built from real-world geographic data. Choose a location, land on the map, and take your vehicle onto the open road.
Hop Earth begins with a map instead of a conventional racing track. You can choose a real location and use the surrounding road network as your driving environment.
The game uses OpenStreetMap for roads and satellite elevation data for terrain. This allows locations across the world to become part of the playable scene, from city streets to coastal routes and mountain roads.
After selecting a location, click “Hop Here” to enter the area. Your character drops from around 2,000 meters under a parachute before reaching the ground. Give the world time to load before trying to drive. Roads and terrain are generated from live services, so the first moments of a session can take some time. If your character remains stuck at the spawn height and the ground does not get closer, reloading and joining the game again may be necessary.
Once you have landed on a loaded road, hold X to summon a vehicle according to the game's prompt. Wait for the car to arrive and settle before trying to enter it. Press F to get inside the vehicle. You can then use the driving controls to explore the surrounding roads.
If the keyboard does not respond, click inside the game frame first so the page has focus.
Driving in Hop Earth centers on exploring the generated road network. The game does not fill the environment with conventional buildings; its focus is on roads, intersections, tunnels, terrain, and vehicle movement. You can choose a location that interests you and simply explore the roads around it. The current experience is primarily free roam, while racing and GPS navigation are listed as features planned for the future.
The map also provides a Create a race option for setting up a route between two locations. Choose a starting point to place the green START marker, then select a destination for the red FINISH marker. The game creates a route along the real road network.
The route panel can provide information including:
You can start the route, share it with other players, or reset the markers to create another route.
Hop Earth also includes multiplayer features and additional ways to interact with the world. Players can join shared sessions, use chat, view the scoreboard, switch weapons, and operate helicopters.
Touch controls are available on mobile devices, and the game also notes that a gamepad or joystick may work.
A few simple steps can make the first drive easier:

First, check that your character has actually finished landing. The game can sometimes leave a player stuck around the 2,000-meter spawn height, where keyboard inputs may not work. If the character remains frozen, reload and join the session again.
Yes. The map has a Create a race feature that lets you choose a start and finish point. The game then traces a route between them using the real road network, and you can share the resulting session with other players.
